Mahila Housing Trust

Mahila Housing Trust is helping low-income communities with practical approaches to extreme heat, keeping homes up to 5°C cooler with affordable reflective roof coatings that lower electricity bills and reduce heat exposure. Alongside this, it is pioneering affordable heat insurance that automatically pays out for lost income when dangerous temperatures stop people working, providing immediate financial support without imposing the burden of proof onto families. The Mahila Housing Trust (MHT) creates climate resilience for the urban poor through working at household, settlement and city levels to ensure lasting impact. Through increasing demand for solar reflective paint, the number of companies supplying the paint has nearly tripled with the cost reducing by a 10th, increasing accessibility and affordability and take up through the community.

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility

Mother Earth Foundation is stopping ocean plastic at the source by building zero waste systems and advocating for fair pay for the waste workers that have diverted up to 89% of household waste from landfill in the Philippines. Rather than importing complex technology, the Foundation works city by city to build community-run Materials Recovery Facilities, allowing households to sort biodegradable, recyclable and residual waste at the source. Education works alongside, helping communities understand why sorting their waste matters, and how to do it. This approach benefits both urban and coastal areas and in the City Government of San Fernando, Pampanga, this has kept up to 89% of household waste out of landfill.  Crucially, the Foundation's model offers dignity and stable pay to the informal waste workers who do the bulk of the region's recycling, formalising their status and improving their livelihoods.

Niue Ocean Wide Trust

Turning the cost of ocean protection into a 20-year plan the world can invest in. Niue Ocean Wide Trust protects the whole of Niue's ocean territory — an area roughly the size of Vietnam, with 40% set aside as fully protected zones where no fishing is allowed. Since this protection began, fish numbers have grown by 60% and larger predators like sharks and tuna by 45%, between 2023 and 2026. Instead of relying on one-off grants or donations, Niue calculated the true cost of looking after its ocean for the next 20 years, bringing people, companies, governments and philanthropists around the world together to fund it directly — securing not temporary aid, but a lasting instrument for its ocean's protection. What Niue has built for one ocean territory, every Pacific Island Forum state and small island developing nation now has a blueprint to build for their own — a model with the potential to safeguard entire oceans, and the momentum a global tipping point for sustainable ocean management

Pula

Pula has supported 24 Million farmers across Africa to face the climate crisis, using insurance to secure and increase access to incomes and food, enabling farmers to create livelihoods where they are and not be forced to migrate. Pula focuses on enabling data driven decisions to enhance agricultural productivity; combining satellite data with ground-level measurements. Pula protects smallholder farmers by using digital technology and satellite data to automate climate insurance. They bundle insurance directly into existing farm inputs like seeds and fertilizer so farmers are covered automatically. By monitoring regional yields instead of assessing individual farms, they can pay out claims quickly and transparently. This scalable approach builds financial resilience against extreme weather across emerging markets.

South Korea Zero Waste Movement Network

South Korea Zero Waste Movement Network has set a global precedent, building the world’s most replicable model for cutting food waste at scale. Over three decades, it has connected more than 180 organisations, helping shape South Korea’s landfill ban and pay-as-you-waste fee system, working with government and companies including Samsung Electronics and food delivery platform Baemin. The system starts at home. Households separate food waste from general rubbish and, in many areas, pay for it by weight – a direct incentive to waste less. In cities including Seoul, smart bins weigh the waste, identify the user by card and calculate the charge automatically. Food waste that can’t be prevented is turned into compost, animal feed or biogas, instead of being buried in landfill, where it releases methane. The system now recycles around 95% of South Korea’s food waste, up from just 2% in 1995, a transformation estimated to have saved the country around US $3 billion.

Yellowstone to Yukon (Y2Y)

Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative reconnects a 2,100-mile mountain landscape across Canada and the US, helping grizzly bears, wolves and caribou move freely again while protecting one of Earth’s last truly intact wild ecosystems. It brings together Indigenous Nations, governments, scientists, communities and industry across the 2,100-mile landscape, pairing land protection with practical fixes: wildlife overpasses and underpasses let animals cross roads safely, while conservation agreements keep migration routes open. In Banff, these measures have cut hooved wildlife-vehicle collisions by 96%. Since 1993, protected areas across the region have grown by more than 80%, twice the rate of the rest of North America. Yellowstone to Yukon and its more than 800 partners have helped protect around 25 million hectares, an area larger than the United Kingdom, and supported more than 200 wildlife crossings.

ZEMBA

ZEMBA unites nearly 50 of the world’s major cargo owners, including Amazon, IKEA and Nike, into a single alliance that makes binding, multi-year commitments to zero-emission shipping, giving shipping companies the confidence to invest in cleaner vessels and fuels. Rather than waiting for policy or regulation, ZEMBA runs competitive procurement tenders where members commit upfront to buy zero-emission shipping. That gives shipping companies the confidence to invest in low-emission vessels and new fuel supply chains, spreading cost and risk across the alliance. Co-founded in 2023 by the Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Program, ZEMBA is now an initiative of the Center for Green Market Activation (GMA). Its first two tenders are expected to cut at least 200,000 metric tonnes of CO2e in container shipping between 2026 and 2031, with a third tender launch targeted for 2027.
